The Ads at the Bottom of the Page
Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you'll see a few Ads by Google that some sort of keyword-based yet strangely flawed algorithm picked for display triggered by the content of this page and maybe some other parts of my blog.
Today, after my last post, I spotted the following ads:
Magna International: Get employee List & Directory with Name, Title, Phone & Email. I guess Google thinks I would actually like to complain to Frank Stronach in person about his new Russian buddies.
Scientific Imaging System: Scientific CCD Cameras with outstanding specifications. What's this all about? Do they need someone to help them finish writing their specs? Does my blog have the sort of content that attracts people who need this kind of camera? Like, astronomers maybe? Oh, right, I mentioned the Blue Moon...
Country Coach Magna: We have Country Coach Magnas with detailed Specs, Photos, 360s! Ok, I can see that Google is trying to hedge its bets. If it's not the company CEO's policies that I was yammering about, it must be motorhomes. Have I been talking in this blog about going on a roadtrip lately? Have they been following me around in travel section of Chapters? Did they spy me clipping newspaper articles about Chicago's Magnificant Mile, The Icefields Parkway and Sedona's red rock monoliths? Are they reading my mind?
I just looked again after refreshing the page. Now it's a banner ad with some really cute polar bears. I think Google may have noticed that I'm from the land of ice and snow. Melting ice and snow...
I wonder what Ads by Google this post will attract.
The game is afoot!

I'm starting to think that it's the tags that trigger which ad gets displayed. I'm going to play around some more...
Like I don't have anything else to do on a Sunday afternoon!
Great idea! I'll create a post about some topic with some interesting words in it or maybe I'll just randomly string some words together. Nouns are probably the best. Then I'll stick on some tags about entirely different subjects and see what happens. I should pick tags that I'm not already using and that have nothing to do with any topic I've ever written about.
I love a good experiment!
And today I go for another ultrasound which will hopefully reassure me that all is well. I get nervous each time before I go in case something has gone terribly wrong since the last one.
